Nothing is worse than being on a train on a Monday morning watching other bleary-eyed people sit in a daze wondering where the weekend went. The day is then spent trying to get back into work mode and knowing that the weekend is a long way off.
According to Indeed.com,
The Monday blues is that feeling of dread of going to work and starting your workweek.
Why do we get the Monday blues?

-
- Weekend sleep schedule shifts mess with our circadian rhythm.
-
- Fluctuating weekend sleep schedules disrupt our circadian rhythm (also known as the body’s internal clock).
-
- People are less excited about the workweek, which lowers motivation.
-
- Going from relaxing over the weekend to assuming responsibility at work can be overwhelming
-
- We’re conditioned not to like Mondays and therefore we don’t!
How to avoid them:
One thing I do to make Mondays interesting is select a piece of jewellery that’s unique and special to me. It gives me something to look forward to and it can be a great icebreaker at the beginning of the day.
Here some general things you can do:
- Not changing your sleep schedule too much over the weekend
- Keeping your social calendar busy so you have something to look forward to at the start of the week
- Easing yourself into work by breaking down complex tasks or completing an easy one first
