I came across this interesting article about the difference between writing by hand and typing. The writer in me loves cursive. Especially mine! I used to love writing in various notebooks just to see the words on the page, and if I had time, I would journal more. These days everything is digital and countless apps and websites have replaced the role of pen and paper.
The general gist is that we are more likely to remember notes that we write by hand. The physical act of writing taps into a different part of the brain, and also we’re more likely to pay attention to what we’re writing on paper because we are looking at the words and processing them as we go along. Most of us have learned how to touch type and aren’t conscious of what we’re writing when we’re at the computer or using our phones. So, next time you need to write down an urgent reminder – grab some paper and a pen!
