Holiday Survival Guide: 5 Tips to Enjoy the Festive Season

I have spent a good chunk of time looking for last-minute gifts this week. Every year I tell myself I’m not going to and every year I cave in. Something about the flurry of activity makes me feel like I should be running around doing the same thing. After hours of scrolling, I took a breath and deleted most of what I had in various online carts. I haven’t finished shopping but stressing myself out is not the answer.

It is easy to feel overwhelmed during this time of the year, but I’ve got you. Here are six tips that will get you through it!

1. Plan Ahead

Outline important dates and events to avoid last-minute stress. Don’t try to do everything. Focus on what’s most important to you.

2. Don’t Go Over Budget

Figure out how much you can comfortably spend and stick to that amount. This will help you prioritise your purchases and avoid impulse buying.

3. Take Care of Yourself

Take time to relax and unwind. Eat well, get enough sleep, and exercise regularly.

4. Set Boundaries

It’s okay to decline invitations or requests that overwhelm you. Avoid social media and anything that can upset you and focus on being around people who make you happy.

5. Keep It Simple

Focus on what matters to you and let go of the rest. If you don’t feel like cooking an elaborate dinner – don’t! Do what feels best for you. The festive period is about spending time with your loved ones and not who has the biggest turkey!
