Writing is such a weird thing sometimes. I am in a good place with my writing – until I stop to think about it. The doubt begins to creep in, and suddenly, the words I was so proud of don’t seem right.
I’m sure anyone who is also a writer knows what I am talking about. We are our own worst enemies sometimes. To avoid this, I’ve decided to build a pick-me-up writing pack for my next literary crisis, and first, here are five quotes to inspire your writing and help you keep going.

The text versions of these quotes are provided below in case the image doesn’t load.
- “You can’t be a good writer without being a good reader first.” – Jeff Kinney
- “Write about what you know and really feel.” – Charlie Mackesy
- “Finish the bastard. You never know how good it is or how good it’s gonna be until you’re finished. So just finish the story.” – Irvine Welsh
- “The state of your manuscript in its current draft is the worst it will ever be. It can only get better from here.” – Ela Lee
- Follow your gut. Sometimes you just get a feeling about something, and in my experience, it is best not to ignore that feeling. – A.B. Poranek
